Baskets may not be considered the most ornate way to serve foods. There may not be a lot of consistency to what makes up a “basket” meal, but I think we can all agree that baskets full of food bring a smile to our faces and pleasure to our taste buds, and satisfaction to our bellies. From the moment they showed up in Barrington, Cheshire, England, at a small farmhouse restaurant owned by Hank and Eileen Day in the 10960s, the basket meal has been a staple for mom-and-pop style restaurants ever since.
We took that cue at Bubba’s Fish Shack and created several options for you to choose from. Of course, we love to share our BIG DAWG PLATTERS piled full of multiple offerings spilling over the edges of our larger plates, but we recognize that sometimes, that is just too much food.
Yes, we have AMAZING BUBBA-WICHES, but we wanted to create options for those of you that want something not between pieces of bread. However, if you are in the mood for a mouthwatering sandwich served with fries and coleslaw, you should visit us soon! We have great sandwiches that are sure to please your palette.
A “basket” meal is usually a plastic basket lined with paper, and while it is a ubiquitous dish in the Midwest, it certainly has its place in restaurants like Bubba’s Fish Shack. It started out as “chicken-in-a-basket” by American GI and his wife, Hank and Eileen Day. Its popularity snowballed in the 1960s and never stopped.
At Bubba’s Fish Shack, we have made the basket meal our own, and while we do have a Chicken Fingers basket option, we have several other options to pick from as well. If you have a favorite item at Bubba’s Fish Shack, you can also get it as a basket!
Our BUBBA-RIFIC BASKETS feature some of the best items that Bubba’s Fish Shack has to offer. We are pleased to provide those items to you featured in a basket and served with Fries. If you are looking for all the wonderful flavors that our Platters offer in a smaller packet, these baskets are perfect for you.
